TREATMENT FOR GENERAL ALIMENTS

1) VIRAL FEVER (FLU) : Start with DOLO 650mg  1 – 1 – 1 
For 2days if does not subside start antibiotic DOXYCYCLINE 100mg for 3days 1 – 0 – 1 + Dolo 650mg 1 – 1 – 1.

2) VIRAL FEVER with COLD, COUGH, HEADACHE 
DOXY 100mg 1 – 1 – 1 + Tab. TUSQ 1 – 1 – 1 for 3days
If cough is more – ASTHALIN EXPECTORANT one Tea Spoon daily 3times.

3) FEVER BODY PAINS (or) ANY PAINS 
ACECLOPLUS   1 – 1 – 1 for 2days

4) PAIN ABDOMEN or MENSTRUAL (or) OTHER 
MEFTALSPAS 1 – 1 – 1 if pain is severe Inj. Meftalspass 1 Amp IM 

5) GASTRITIS (Burning sensation in the stomach and chest) 
Tab: RANTAC 150mg on empty stomach for 1 week (or)
PANTOP 40mg 1 – 0 – 0 empty stomach for 1week 
     
FOOD ADVISE: AVOID COFFEE, TEA, CHILLIES, PICKLES and MASALA FOOD  
     If burning sensation in chest and stomach with belching (REFLUX OESOPHAGITIS)
     Tab: PANTOP – D  1 – 0 – 1 On Empty Stomach For 1 Week
     
     FOR INDIGESTION AND FLATULENCE (gas formation) 

     Tab: UNIENZYME – MPS   1 – 1  - 1 after food 
     Syp: ARISTOZYME one T.S.F Daily after Food 3 Times 

6)  LOOSE MOTIONS (DIARRHOEA)
     TAB: NORMETROGYL  1 – 0 – 1 for 5days

     BACTERIAL DYSENTRY (or) AMOEBIC DYSENTRY 
     Tab: OFLOX 200mg + ORNIDOZOLE 1 – 0 – 1 for 5days (or) 
     Tab: OFLOX 200mg + METRONIDOZOL 400mg for 5days (OR)                                     
     Cap: BIFILAC (OR) Cap: VIBACT (PROBIOTIC & PREBIOTIC) 1 – 0 – 1for 5days
 
7)  FOR LOOSE MOTION IN CHILDREN BELOW 1YEAR 
     Syp: WALAMYCIN (dry syrup) 5ml 2 or 3times daily 
     For above one year Syp: GRAMOGYL 5ml 2 times daily 

8) FOR UTI ( URINARY TRACT INFECTION ): Burning sensation while passing urine and    
    pain in the renal angle ( or) radiating pain from loin to groin – renal stones 
    Tab: NORFLOX 400MG 1 – 0 – 1 for 5days
    Tab: CYSTONE   1 – 0 – 1 for 5days

9) FOR BLEEDING IN THE NOSE ( EPISTAXIS)
    Check B.P. (rule out hypertension) if hypertensive control B.P. by treatment.
    Make the patient lie down, Keep COLD (ICE) PACK over the bridge of the nose &     
    Forehead for 10 minutes
   Tab: ETHASYL   1 – 0 – 1 or 3 times daily depending upon the severity if sever bleeding     
    Inj: ETHASYL 1AMP I.M. 

    

10) FOR CHEST PAIN (OR) N.C.P.( NON CARDIAC CHEST PAIN):
      (or) COSTOCHONDRITIS 
       Tab: PANTOP   1 – 0 – 0 on empty stomach + Tab: ACECLOPLUS 1 – 0 – 1 after food
  
     CHEST PAIN (CARDIAC): Excruciating pain with sever perspiration (sweating) &   
     vomitting and radiating pain towards left shoulder, left neck, left jaw. 
     Advise: Patient should not walk, he must lie down and should take Bed rest. 
     Give immediately Tab: SORBITRATE 5mg (SUBLINGUAL) and ECOSPIRIN 75mg  
     (orally)  
     Advise: Reassure the patient not to be frightened. Check saturation and give oxygen, do 
                  ECG make arrangements to shift the patient to higher center.

11) GIDDINESS or VERTEGO: Check B.P. 3 to 4 times (lying down posture) sitting posture     
      and standing posture. Give the patient Tab: NIFEDEPINE 5mg (SUBLINGUAL) and   
      observe the patient and make arrangements to shift to Higher center, If the B.P. is high.

12) IF NOT DUE TO B.P. – give Tab: VERTIGON 25mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 3 to 4 days
      (OR) Tab: VERTIN 1 – 0 – 1 for 3 to 4 days. If not subsided refer to higher center.

13) FOR VOMITTINGS & VOMITTING SENSATION: 
     Tab: EMESET 1 – 1 – 1 before food
      IF VOMITING IS SEVERE:  Inj: EMESET one Ample I.M. + IV fluids: NS 1 + DNS 1            
      If dehydration is present  

14) FOOD POISIONING (BACTERIAL): Symptoms: vomiting, diarrhoea with pain abdomen 
 Inj: EMESET 1 ample I.M. + Inj: MEFTALSPAS I.M. + Tab: OFLOX 200mg 1 – 0 – 1 +                    
       Tab: ORNIDAZOLE 400mg 1 – 0 – 1 (OR) Tab: OFLOX 200mg 1 – 0 – 1 +                    
       Tab: METROGYL 400 mg   1 – 0 – 1 + I.V. Fluids if dehydration present.

15) H/O FALL WITH SEVERE PAINS (backache, chest pain, ankle joint pain and sprain):
       Make the patient lie down, Keep COLD (ICE) PACK over the injured (blunt injury only)    
       part and swelling area for 10 minutes. Keep the part elevated for ½ hour to 1 hour above   
       heartlevel. 
       Treatment: HIFENAC –MR 1 – 0 – 1 after food + PANTOP 40mg    1 – 0 – 1 before food 
       TOOTHACHE  & EARACHE : ACECLOPLUS 1 – 0 – 1 + MEGAPEN 500mg 1 – 0 – 1   
       for 5days +  WAXSOLVE (clear the wax) 2 drops 3times daily for 3days.
          For oral ulcers T.E.S.S. (buccal paste) to be applied inside mouth + cap: BECELAC  
       FORTE daily one for 5days.

16) DIABETES: Patient may feel tired ness, excessive thirsty, excessive urination during night, excessive hungry, loss of weight, may have some skin problems, burning sensation in the feet and numbness of the legs and feet.
Fasting blood sugar to be done immediately and urine examination and again blood sugar to be done 2hours after breakfast + for Type II diabetes Tab: GLIMY 1mg + METFORMIN 500 mg 1 – 0 – 0 for life long. 
Dosage to be adjusted according to the sugar values.   
For NEUROPATHY (numbness of the legs and feet (or) burning sensation in the feet).
Inj: NEURO KIND PLUS 1ample I.M. twice weekly for 3 weeks.
Cap: NEURO KIND PLUS 1 – 0 – 0 (on alternate days), whenever injection is not taken.

HYPOGLYCEMIA(very low blood sugar): common in diabetes symptoms: tremors, palpitation, sweating, confusion, altered sensorium, lastly fainting. Immediately sugar or glucose to be given. Advise: Inj: INSULIN (over dosage) & with out proper food should    not be there. Take food properly after taking tablet.

17) CONVULSIONS (SEIZURES) (OR) EPELEPSY: 
FEBRILE CONVULSIONS: This will happen commonly in children, Whenever temperature more (High fever) Child will have Convulsions, cold sponging should be 
done cold sponging (dip cloth in ice cold water and cold sponging to be done from head to toe).

Give PARACETOMOL 250mg (CROCIN SYRUP 5ml) depending up on the age and weight of the child. Adjust the dosage according to the age & weight. If the convulsions are severe shift to higher center.

For ADULTS: Keep Airway in the mouth to prevent toung bite. Don’t give IRON PIECE in the hand. Don’t give water and don’t sprinkle water on the face. Make the patient lie down to left side and clean the mouth whenever frothing is there. And shift the patient to the hospital immediately.

18) FEVERS (MALARIA): Patient suffers from shivering ( chills & rigors) for some time and then again temperature will come down. This type will last for 3 to 4 days.
       Blood test: for M.P. (Malarial Parasite) to be done.   
Tab:  AMALAR (or) REZIZ 3 tablets as a single dose at a time. (or)         
Tab: FALCIGO 100 mg 1 – 0 – 1 on first day followed by 50mg 1 – 0 – 0 for four days.
Inj: FALCIGO 120mg on first day I.M. (or) I.V. followed by 100mg daily for 4 days.
CHILDREN: Tab: DOXYCYCLINE – 2mg per kg per dose orally (not to be used less than      8 years old) for 7days.
Tab: AMALAR 1 mg per kg per orally.   Tab: FALCIGO 4mg per kg orally for 3days.

FURUNCLES(BOILS): Cap: MEGAPEN 500mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 5days + LYSER- D 1 – 0 – 1 for 5days + Cap: BECELAC FORTE 0 – 1 – 0 For 5days
For children: MEGAPEN KID 250mg 1 – 1 – 1 for 5days+ Syp: COMBLIFLAM 5ml               
1 – 1 – 1 for 5days. 
FOR INJURIES OVER THE FOOT, LEG, ARM, HAND: Inj: T.T.  I.M. +Inj: DICLO I.M. (incase of CHILDREN: Inj: PRACETOMOL to be given)
       clean the wound with H2O2 ( HYDROZENPEROXIDE) and ointment METROZYL –P;     
       (or) FUSIWAL ointment to be applied.
Cap: MEGAPEN 500mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 7days + LYSER –D 1 – 0 – 1 for 7days, incase of bleeding of the injuries apply pressure bandage and elevate the part above the heart level.    

19) TYPHOID FEVER : Symptoms: High gread fever, severe headache, body pains, persisting, for 1 week or even more than 1 week.
       BLOOD CULTURE :blood culture test to be done  After conforming positive start treatment.
       Tab: CIFIXIME200mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 7 to 10 days + DOLO 650mg for 7 to 10 days +   
       Tab: BECELACFORTE 0 – 1 – 0 for 7days. (or) Tab: AZITHROMYCIN 00mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 7days        
       (or)  (in severe cases): Inj: CEFIXIME 1g I.V. twice daily for seven days

20) SORE THROAT (PHARYNGITIS) : Pain during swallowing 
       Do salt water (luke warm water) gargling for 3 times a day
       Tab: DOLO 650mg 1 – 1 – 1 for 3days + Cap: DOXY 100mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 3days

21) BURNS (OVER) ANY PART OF THE BODY : Common domestic Burns   keep the injured area under running water or apply ICE directly over the area for few minutes.             METROZYL – P Ointment to be applied  (or) FUSIDIN (FUSIWAL) ointment to be applied or NEOSPORIN 5g (for ophthalmic & skin) or NEOSPORIN 15g (skin only).  
        Tab: LYSER – D 1 – 0 – 1 for 5days
        Tab: OFLOX 200mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 5days 
       FOR CHILDREN: Tab: MEGAPEN - KID 250mg 1 – 1 – 1 for 5days 
       Tab: COMBIFLAM   1/2 – 1/2 – 1/2 (OR) COMBIFLAM (suspension) 5ml 3times daily 

SWELLING OVER THE  FRONT OF THE NECK (HYPO THYROIDISM) 
Symptoms: Pains over the different part of the body, dullness, menstrual problems, feeling of weakness, etc. Ask the patient to swallow if the swelling moves up and down it could be Thyroid problem. 
Blood test:THYROID PROFILE to be done immediately and consult the ENDOCRINOLOGIST. 

22) ALLERGIES OF SKIN: Allergy may be due to food vegetables drugs (Medicines, oil, non  
      vegetarian preparation, clothing (dress))
Treatment: Tab: LEVOCETRIZINE 5mg 1 – 0 – 1 + Tab: WYSOLENE 5mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 2days.
If Allergy is severe Inj: DECADRON 0.5 ml + Inj: AVIL 0.5 ml I.M. immediately 
Tab: LORFAST 10mg (loratidine) 1 – 0 – 0 (or) ALASPAN 10mg 1 – 0 – 1 can be taken orally.

22) INSECT BITE (OR) BEE BITE (OR) CENTIPED: 
Symptoms: Sever burning pain and itching sensation will be there 
Treatment: Inj: BETNESOL 1Ample I.M. + Inj: AVIL 1ml I.M.
Tab: WYSOLENE 5mg 1 – 0 – 1 + Tab: LORFAST 10mg 1 – 0 – 1 should be given orally.
In severe Cases Inj: HYDROCORTISONE 100mg I.M. to be given.

23) SCORPION BITE: 
Symptoms: Severe burning pain at the site of bite 
Treatment: Inj: XYLOCAINE 1ml (or) 2ml to be given locally (infiltration)
Tab: PRAZOSIN 1mg 1 – 0 – 1 orally 
To apply XYLOCAINE ointment at the site of bite. Does not subside shift to higher center

24) SNAKE BITE: 
Symptoms: 2 fang marks will be seen at the site of bite. Swelling and burning pain at the site of bite. Immediately patient should be shifted to hospital at the same time patient should be reassured with confidence (should not frightened) and patient should not walk. If it is COBRA bite: severe burning pain and swelling at site of bite after some time drooping of the upper eye lid (PTOSIS) and after 1 or 2 hours patient unable to swallow and unable to talk (BULBAR PARALYSIS).
That’s why at any cost patient should be shifted to hospital with out any time delay.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     
 Inj: A.S.V. (Anti Snake Venom) to be given I.V. in N.S. fluid after giving test dose.

25) DOGBITE: Even small scratch or abrasion over the foot, leg, arm, hand and head should not be neglected immediately Inj: T.T. I.M. + Inj: A.R.V. (Anti Rabies Vaccine) I.M.
Inj. RABIPUR   I. M. (0, 3, 7, 14, 30) days to be given compulsory. At any cost dog bite should not be neglected.  
26) L.R.T.I. (Lower Respiratory Tract Infection) or Acute Bronchitis: 
Symptoms:  Fever, cough with wheezing, pains.
Treatment: Cap: AMOXCILLIN 500mg 1 – 0 – 1  for 7days + Tab: DOLO 650mg 1 – 1 – 1   for 7days + Tab: DERIPHYLLINE 150mg 1 – 0 – 1 for 7days +  Syp: ASTHALIN expectorant 5ml 3 times daily. 

27) BRONCHIAL ASTHMA:   Symptoms: Cough with wheezing continuously during winter season, rainy season, dust exposure.
Treatment: Inj: DERIPHYLLINE 1amp I.V. slowly for 2minutes + Nebulaization (DUOLIN  or BUDICORT or ASTHALIN repulse) depending upon the severity of wheezing   
        Tab: DOXOPHYLLINE 400mg 1 – 0 – 1 can be given if Tab: Deriphylline not working. 
28) HICCUPS: Spasmodic contraction of diaphragm. With -Naveen Nadiminti
